Welcome to Hollywood…Finally! After weeks of watching some of the worst performers this world has to offer American Idol has made it to the Hollywood round where things start to get serious. We also got our first glimpse of new judge Ellen Degeneres. I hate to say, since I’m not a fan of Ellen, but she seemed very comfortable in her role as American Idol judge and did a respectable job.
A total of 181 hopefuls would be split into two groups and grace the stage of the famous Kodak Theater to perform for the judges. Day one saw many colorful contestants sent packing including the strangely over confident Skiboski. Ellen got a lot of laughs when she compared his performance to a stalking tiger behind a cage. Skiboski wasn’t having any of it and argued his way off the stage before getting axed.
One of the best auditions of the day was Andrew from California. Andrew is the guy who has the father that was involved in the Compton, California gang scene and now has a family of his own. He sang his own rendition of Paula Abdul’s song Straight Up and wowed the judges. They might as well hand him over the record contract now after making Straight Up sound like a good song. Some of the other people who impressed were country blues singer Casey James, who was previously asked to take his shirt off. He sounded like a seasoned pro as he sang a country song with his guitar.
Other notables who did not make it through were Ace Young look-a-like and cancer survivor Justin Williams, the country girl who had never been on a plane before Vanessa Wolfe, Barney kid turned dominatrix Erica Rhodes, and the big Italian guy Amedeo DiRocco. In all there were 96 people who made the cut.

Watch The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 6
This week on the Biggest Loser Ranch the contestants took off to Colorado to train with the Olympic athletes at the Olympic Training Center. As always there were some twists thrown in as Allison told the players they would be competing as individuals and that two people would be sent home.
Allison Jones, a Para-Olympian who competes in both the summer and winter games got things started off by letting each contestant carry the Olympic torch. Each person also received an autographed flag signed by each of the athletes who were training at the center.
The contestants were given the opportunity to train with Olympic skiers their first day. Guys and girls were treated to a brutal circuit training workout that left them completely exhausted. Olympic nutritionists were also on hand to show them the different types of meals the athletes eat.
This first challenge of the week consisted of each player sliding on a horizontal board that simulated a speed skating motion. The first person to 500 points would win. Sam got first place followed by Melissa and Sunshine. The top three were awarded medals for their efforts. The immunity challenge featured a biathlon style even where contestants had to run around an outdoor track and then shoot targets trying to eliminate other players. Surprisingly, Oneal brought home the victory and earned himself immunity.
Back on the ranch the players were nervous about the prospects of two people getting sent home. The person to fall below the red line would be sent home immediately, while the two people below the yellow would get to fight to stay. Red team member Melissa gained a pound and was sent home. Orange team Cheryl and Black team player Darryl fell below the line and were whisked away to a challenge to fight for their survival with the winner being revealed next week

February 8, 2010 One Tree Hill Episode Review- Season 7 Episode 16
This week’s episode of One Tree Hill focused on the growing awkwardness and tension between Julian, Brooke, and Alex. The several moments between Julian and both the ladies have viewers going back and forth on who he is going to hook up with. And, now that Brooke is working on set, the tension is just going to escalate.
David’s hot and heavy relationship with Taylor is apparently over as she tells Quinn and Hailey over morning coffee that David dumped her. I’ve never heard the b-word used so many times within a five minute span since my days of listening to gangster rap. 50 Cent has nothing on these ladies.
Hailey’s mom makes a surprise visit and drops a bombshell on her daughters that she is dying of pancreatic cancer. She also says that she is not going to fight the disease and wants to live her last days happily. Of course the daughters freak out and Taylor leaves the house to run off to God knows where leaving Quinn and Hailey left to support each other and their mom.
The show ends with Alexander coming in to the bar where Alex is taking shots of water because she doesn’t drink. Alexander inquires what the problem is and Alex informs him that when she gets upset she “sleeps with boys.” So she’s stopped drinking and cutting her wrists and now just sleeps with random dudes. It’s nice to see that Alex has really dedicated herself to such personal growth. Alexander takes her up on the offer and the two leave the bar together setting up an interesting scenario for next week.

2.2.10 Biggest Loser Episode Review Episode 9 Week 5
This week’s Biggest Loser was full of surprises as the teams on the ranch pressed in and the competition stepped up. The week’s challenge was inspired by the upcoming Super Bowl as the contestants had to hit a tackling dummy 1,000 times. Michael won the challenge and took home immunity. I think he is the first contestant in Biggest Loser history to win an immunity challenge by not moving his feet.
The big surprise on the ranch was the return of the two teams who had been eliminated the first week. Both teams weighed in with the winner securing a place on the ranch. The yellow team comprised of Oneal and Sunshine won the weigh-in securing their place on the ranch, but along with the victory came the responsibility of casting the only vote this week for elimination.
Meanwhile, Miggy ends up getting her appendix, a cyst, and a growth taken out of her. Now that’s a hardcore weight loss technique. Because of the surgery she is put under doctor’s orders to not exercise too hard. This is a further blow to her already fragile psyche after losing her daughter the week before.
At the weigh-in the weight loss totals are definitely down this week as hardly anyone reaches double digits. Michael finds out he needs to lose 30 pounds in the next two weeks to become the quickest contestant to lose 100 pounds. He loses 13 pounds, leaving him with a challenge of 17 next week to get the record. Big John of the brown team loses only six pounds and ends up being eliminated.

2.2.10 American Idol Episode Review
American Idol auditions continued last night in the Mile High City of Denver. I’m personally looking forward to the Hollywood round and moving on from the endless footage of whackos, sucky singers, and people just wanting to get on TV for 30 seconds.
To ensure the ratings bonanza American Idol has received this season they decided to bring back Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham for another go-round of guest judge duties. I think the lack of eating and the mile high elevation affected Posh’s brain as I truly believe she thought she was on Project Runway. She spent all of her time talking about everyone’s hair, makeup, skin and clothes. And, is it just me or is she starting to morph into a praying mantis?
There seemed to be a major lack of talent in Denver but there were a few standouts. Haeley Vaughn, a 16 year old high school student, whose goal is to become the first black pop-country mainstream singer had a nice voice and impressed the judges with her talent and originality. Contestant Casey James impressed some of the judges after taking his shirt off…at the request of Randy no less and won a golden ticket to Hollywood.
One of the most notable idiots from the show was Kenny Everett. Kenny, who likened himself to a male Mary J. Blige, said he performs a community service by singing out in public because his voice brings the community together. I’m pretty sure that the only groups that show up when Kenny sings are the angry neighbors who want him to shut his mouth. Even after he was humiliated by the judges Kenny continued to bring people together out in the lobby of the audition venue.
The episode ended with Ty Hemmerling, now known as Bikini Boy, walking into the audition. It took the judges all but a half second to get up and walk out of the room. There were a total of 26 golden tickets handed out in Denver. Bring on the Hollywood round!

Lost 2.2.10 Season Premiere Episode Review Season 6 Episode 1 LA X
After nine months of anticipation the Lost season premiere hit ABC airwaves. The writers on the show have always done a great job at throwing in unexpected twists and turns, but with this being the final season of one of the most heralded dramas in television history, all bets are off.
The season premiere episode entitled LA X was broken into two parts and revealed the aftermath from the detonation of the hydrogen bomb. As if Lost wasn’t hard enough to follow, now there are two different realities after the explosion. Now, it seems that there is a timeline occurring in 2004 and one in 2007. In the 2004 timeline the Oceanic 815 flight hits a rough patch but it doesn’t go down. In 2007, which was the 1977 timeline at the end of last season, there is a huge crater in the ground and not the patch of land that Jack was hoping for. And to top it off the island is underwater in 2004! What is going on here?
It will be interesting to see how long these dual realities will go on. I’m expecting it will be short because if anyone else is like me, I don’t have time to go back to college and get a PhD in order to understand what the heck is going on.
After last night’s revelations and lack thereof, expect the internet chatter and water cooler discussions to hit an all time high. Can’t wait for next week!

2.01.10 One Tree Hill Episode Review Season 7 Episode 15
This week’s episode of One Tree Hill seemed like the calm before the storm. The episode was fairly drama free compared to the last few weeks, as the plot centered on everyone forgetting Hailey’s birthday.
Nathan and Clay are on a guy’s road trip and end up getting lost due to Clay taking a wrong turn. Clay’s car ends up with 4 flat tires and the guys are stranded. Nathan gets really upset about not being able to get home for Hailey’s birthday and tells Clay how much he loves his wife. Now this is fiction at its finest people! First of all they cast a 5’9” white guy with a bad haircut to play the part of a pro basketball player and now they’re giving him lines about loving his wife. Obviously the fine writers of One Tree Hill are not big sports fans.
Nathan and Clay end up catching a ride in the back of a pig truck while back in town Hailey, Brooke and Quinn are getting ready for some art benefit dance with a 1980’s theme. Hailey is too busy sulking about everyone forgetting her birthday she ends up leaving her kid Jamie at home by himself. Now that is something I can believe, a sulking pop star who leaves her little kid home by himself because everyone forgot her birthday.
The episode ends with Hailey and Nathan replaying a scene from Sixteen Candles with Cheap Trick singing in the background. I think John Hughes is rolling in his grave right now. A forgettable ending to a forgettable episode.
